Mission Statement

The Newton/North Newton Historic Preservation Commission works to foster education about the preservation movement and Newton and North Newton's cultural, historical, and architectural heritage, to recognize and protect properties that are historically or architecturally significant, and to rescue or document endangered significant properties in Newton and North Newton.

Meeting Schedule

The Newton/North Newton Historic Preservation Commission meetings are held on the second Thursday of each month; meetings begin at 7:00 p.m., and are always open to the public. Meetings are held at the Newton Public Library, 720 N. Oak, Newton, KS.

Special Events
Each May during National Historic Preservation Week; the Newton/North Newton Historic Preservation Commission hosts a special awards ceremony to honor outstanding local efforts in preservation work. The date of the 2008 award show has not yet been set.
