Leadership Development For Adults and High School Students
The training that is incorporated in this program is based on academic research as well
as practical experience in the fields of community, organizational and
leadership development.
The
beliefs that leadership is a necessary ingredient of an effective healthy
community, that everybody can be a leader, and that leadership can be taught are
the driving force of the programs. Leadership, as it is used in the programs, is
clearly defined for the 21st Century. The 21st Century definition of leadership
embraces the concept of servant leadership and the development of human potential.
Effective
leadership, as needed in today's world, builds people, groups and communities
that work together creatively. Twenty-first century leaders must have capacities
to build relationships of trust and respect within groups; to form shared visions, and to facilitate collaborative
strategic action.
The Leadership Advancement Program (for adults) and the Student Leadership Program initiatives are focused on how to teach these
capacities to individuals so that they can help organizations, groups work
effectively.
